The resolution approved by the European Parliament is clarified: the EU is

Today in Brussels it was once again discussed about Albania and its European path. The discussion process comes a few days before all EU heads of state and EU commissioner Von der Leyen arrive in the country. According to the report and the resolution approved today, it appears that the concerns of the EU remain high and reflect the concerns raised by the opposition.

The resolution asks the majority to turn the integration process into a national process, including the opposition and the Assembly in this process. The resolution even asks the Parliament of Albania to take a further step in relation to the integration process by becoming more involved in this process.

"Underlines the need for the involvement of the Assembly of Albania in the European integration process to further advance its legislative abilities, budgeting and supervision, calls on the Assembly to finalize the changes required to determine the latter's role in the integration process and to turn this into a national process."

For the European Parliament, the fact that Albania has suffered from the extraction of personal data is worrying and calls on Albania to implement the GDPR to better protect citizens' personal data. It also calls on the political parties to reach a consensus regarding the country's electoral reform while pointing out the implementation of all the requirements and recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR reports, including the financing of the principles.

Representatives of the Democratic Party have raised concerns about elections, their manipulation, vote buying, the use of state resources and the use of organized crime in elections. This concern is included in the approved Resolution, where it is emphasized that "the joint responsibility of the political forces in Albania is underlined to strengthen and strengthen an inter-party dialogue and political cooperation, enabling the functioning of democratic institutions and continuing to improve governance, transparency and pluralization, including the active presence of civil society; calls for the importance of reaching a consensus between the main political actors and the importance of building a constructive parliamentary tradition and culture of cooperation.

It calls for the need to address the problems created by the elections and evidenced in the recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR and the Venice Commission before the next general elections, further improving the accessibility and integrity of elections by prohibiting vote buying and the misuse of administrative resources , including digitization, transparency and data protection as well as equal access to the media. As well as the revision of the law and rules regarding the financing and operation of political parties."

At the same time, the European Parliament seems to have accepted the DP's request regarding the voting of Albanian citizens living abroad and the necessity of that vote by adding it as an issue in the approved resolution.

The government's attacks on the free media and journalists have not gone unnoticed, where the resolution emphasizes that the EU calls on Albania to ensure a policy of zero tolerance towards intimidation and attacks on journalists and the media. It calls on the authorities to take decisive action against violence, intimidation, smear campaigns and indirect financial and political influence on independent media and journalists. File.al
