Former Foreign Minister Besnik Mustafaj commented on the May 14 local elections.

Invited to News24, Mustafaj stated that collecting facts about the manipulation of the result is the task of the opposition, while he said that the result in the municipality of Rrogozhina was manipulated.

According to him, when the moment comes, the CEC will investigate and the box taken from the prison will be devalued due to the influence of the relatives of the majority candidate.

He further added that, despite this, in some municipalities the manipulation had no value and was not enough, as he mentioned Kavaja and Mirdita.

 "Determining the non-recognition of the elections is worthless. Gathering facts about the manipulation of the result is the duty of the opposition. If we take the case of Rrogozhina, where the mandate of the municipality was alienated through prisoners, while the socialist candidate's father-in-law was the commander of the prison regime. When the moment of the CEC investigation comes, that box will be invalidated as the result has been manipulated. The opposition can speak there. Berisha and the opposition must collect the facts and prove them to the international community and public opinion.

I am convinced that there was manipulation in the election. In some municipalities, the manipulation had no value and was not enough to win, in Kavaja or Mirdita. Democrats need to analyze what they didn't do well. The split of the DP had its own impact. I am convinced that Berisha can find the mechanism for the unification of the DP if he wants ," he said.

As for Basha's return to political life, Mustafaj said that he was promised that the seal will remain and he is returning to receive the latter.
