Fire at QSUT, police react: Cause, an electrical spark

The police have reacted after the warehouse of the Neurology Hospital at the University Hospital Center was engulfed in flames.

Through a statement, the capital's police announced that the fire caused only material damage.

" On 05.02.2025, at around 21:50, it is suspected that an electrical spark caused a fire in the basement of the Psychiatric Hospital. The fire caused only material damage," the police statement said.

In a previous response, the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center clarified that there was no risk to patients or staff.

" This evening, at around 9:45 PM, smoke was detected on the ground floor of the Neurology Hospital, without any danger to patients or staff."

Medical staff and technical teams have intervened to assess the situation and guarantee the normal continuation of service.

Currently, there is no risk to patients or staff in the hospital premises and work continues without any obstacles.

"The relevant authorities have been notified to carry out the necessary verifications and ensure that everything is within safe parameters ," the announcement states.
