US Congressman: US does not interfere in the formation of the Kosovo Government

US Congressman Mike Lawler, also a member of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, declares that the United States does not influence the formation of the Kosovo government.

He emphasized that the elections and the will of the citizens must be respected.

“During elections, the goal is to accept the result and work together to overcome divisions. Every country has the right to choose its own government, and the US does not dictate who should lead it. We work with whoever the people choose ,” Lawler said in an interview with Interactive Talks.

He praised Kosovo as an important partner of the United States and emphasized that the American military presence in the country is in line with US national security interests.

Commenting on the Trump administration's stance, Lawler emphasized that Ambassador Richard Grenell will have a voice in the process, but the key figures who will play a decisive role are Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.

Finally, he expressed his belief that with the end of the war in Ukraine, there will be more space to focus on stability and lasting peace between Kosovo and Serbia.
