Kosovo officially opens campaign for February 9 parliamentary elections

The election campaign in Kosovo officially began today, although political parties have held rallies in all cities inside and outside the country since the announcement of the election date last summer.

On February 9, citizens will vote for the new composition of the Assembly of Kosovo, where 28 political entities are competing with around 1,300 candidates for 120 seats. The right to vote belongs to over 2 million citizens, including around 105,000 registered voters from the diaspora.

Unlike Albania, Kosovo applies a single electoral zone and open lists, giving voters the opportunity to choose their preferred party and up to ten candidates from the list.

The campaign is expected to be dynamic, as parties try to mobilize the electorate and gain the trust of citizens to form the next government.
