The Foreign Ministry of Kosovo asks citizens to avoid crossing through Serbia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo (MPJD) has addressed a call to all citizens to avoid crossing through Serbia.

The reason is the situation created in the North of the country.

In the announcement of this ministry, it is stated that during the day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received reports of arrests of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo by the Serbian authorities during their passage through Serbia, and is dealing closely with the cases through the Liaison Office in Belgrade.

"Taking into account the recent developments, and recognizing the incorrect approach of the Serbian authorities, in order to avoid any incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invites citizens to use alternative routes for travel," the announcement states .

Serbian protesters are opposing the entry of Albanian mayors into municipal buildings. The situation in these municipalities became tense on Friday, May 26, when the sworn mayors were forced to enter their work offices under the assistance of the Kosovo Police.

On Monday (29), protestors with masks and those without masks used violence against members of KFOR, Kosovo Police and journalists.
