Motion of no confidence in the Kosovo government to avoid consequences from the West?
There were no explicit requests to the opposition parties in Kosovo by the special envoys of the United States, Gabriel Escobar, and of the European Union, Miroslav Lajçak, say the officials of these parties.
Lajçak and Escobar, on May 6, met with the leaders of the three opposition parties in Kosovo, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK).
As the officials of these parties say, in a meeting with Western diplomats, they discussed the current crisis in the north of Kosovo and the demands of the West to the Government of Kosovo to get out of the situation created there.
Connoisseur of political developments, Arton Demhasaj from the non-governmental organization Lévizja Çohu, believes that Lajçak and Escobar have also discussed with the opposition parties about alternative options to get out of the created situation.
The crisis in the north, but also in Kosovo's relations with its western partners, started as a result of the actions of the Kosovo authorities, who with the help of the police enabled the entry of the new Albanian mayors into the municipal facilities in Zubin Potok, Leposaviq and Zveçan. on May 26.
They were opposed by the Serbian citizens in the municipalities in the north of Kosovo, who boycotted the April 23 elections for the mayor of these municipalities. The objections were manifested with protests, which resulted in clashes between the protesters and the Kosovo Police, but also with the members of KFOR in Zveçan, on May 29, where several dozen were injured on both sides.
Lajçak and Escobar, during their last visit to Kosovo, on June 5 and 6, asked the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to calm the situation in the north of Kosovo, to hold new elections in the four northern municipalities, as well as to return to dialogue for the normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations.
Both Western diplomats have said that regarding these requests, they expect an answer from Prime Minister Kurti by Friday.
AAK: Të iniciohet mocioni i mosbesimit ndaj Qeverisë
The multi-ethnic parliamentary group has eight MPs, while another 13 are without a parliamentary group, including five and nine MPs from the Serbian List - the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo, which enjoys the support of official Belgrade.
The leader of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, has stated that there are deputies who are part of the parliamentary majority and outside it, who can vote the motion of no confidence in the Government.
However, PDK's vice president, Vlora Çitaku, says that in reality the opposition parties together have about 40 votes and they should not focus now on "small political tactics"./ REL
