Nexhat Krasniqi is dismissed from the civil service of Kosovo

The former director of the Department of Procurement in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Nexhat Krasniqi, included in the black list of the US Department of State, has left the civil service by decision of the disciplinary commission of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning where he worked.

Krasniqi was sent to the MESP Disciplinary Commission on Monday afternoon, while the main legal basis used for his case is the new Law on public officials.

DASH had put Nexhat Krasniq, former director of the Procurement Department in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, on the list of sanctions, due to his involvement in corruption. According to the announcement, he is banned from entering the US.

"As a public official responsible for the supervision of procurement contracts, Krasniqi has abused his public position by accepting bribes in exchange for awarding the contract for the construction of the industrial park in the municipality of Drenas by the Eltoni company," the announcement said.

Likewise, Krasniqi's children, Aulona and Olti Krasniqi, have also been placed under sanctions, and they will also not be allowed to enter the US.

In 2015, Krasniqi was sentenced to 26 months in prison after being found guilty of abuse of office in the case of the Business Park in Drenas.

Krasniqi's name was also mentioned in the court case for misuse in the Ministry of Telecommunications when it was headed by Fatmir Limaj, who at that time was an official of the Democratic Party of Kosovo.

In the indictment, it was suspected that Krasniqi and Limaj had created an organized criminal group and had misused official authority and had taken bribes by favoring a company in the procurement process. However, Krasniqi was acquitted of the charges.

Otherwise, the Business Park - Krasniqi was sanctioned for granting the construction permit - was created in 2010. According to the website of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, this ministry also invested in its construction. Currently, it is said that 41 businesses of different sectors are located there.
