What is Prime Minister Rama's job at the Municipality of Tirana?

By Genc Burimi

After attacking in a most unprecedented manner for a Prime Minister the SPAK prosecutor and the judge who arrested Mayor Erion Veliaj; after continuing in the most ruthless manner the pressure on justice by reminding SPAK prosecutors and all judges of the high salaries like no one else in Albania that were given to them by His Excellency Edi Rama; after crying about the plight of Ajola's child, but not even remembering that the children of Malltez or Ahmetaj existed;

after mentioning dozens of times the sacred principle of the presumption of innocence and that according to him Veliaj could not be arrested without evidence or with evidence obtained by intimidation of witnesses by the judiciary, while: he himself, the prime minister, was satisfied with a non grata not by a judicial decision but by a Sorosian administration to bury alive the Albanian Opposition and its own Chairman Berisha, whom he called a "Dead Man" in vain;

  when he himself, who today makes the presumption of innocence a myth but yesterday did not feel even the slightest shock at the arrest of the former President like a gangster on a street full of cars; after he curses and curses the Opposition with his mother and father from morning to dinner with the most terrible vocabulary such as swamp, swamp, or Bufi sterplak, forgetting that he himself, perhaps Edi Rama, 60 years old, after 20 years could be a mayor sterplak and invalid and it would not do him any good to be made fun of for his age, the Prime Minister put the all-important cap on him this morning: he landed as if he were the Emir of a banana monarchy in the Municipality of Tirana with his prime ministerial car and his whip.

What rights do taxpayers have to pay from their own pockets the means and working time of the head of the Government of the Republic of Albania so that he can solve the problems of corruption that are muddying the Social Party and sinking its Rilindja?

After spending almost an hour in a "chat" with Albanians, that Albania is a country of separation of powers and that prosecutors are interfering too much in his work, the Prime Minister today goes to intimidate the local government and joins them in the offices of the local government. There is no example in democratic countries for a Prime Minister to go uninvited to the Municipality of the Capital, or even to another provincial municipality.

The powers are separated. The Tirana Municipal Council derives its legitimacy not from the Government but from the sovereign vote of the people of Tirana, from that vote that even seems to have been violated in the most barbaric way if the accusations of corruption against the Mayor are proven. So why did Edi Rama choose to land as plenipotentiary in the Municipality today?

To mock who? The opposition? Justice? Or the entire Albanian people, whom, with these ugly and anti-democratic gestures, he seeks to remind of that terrifying expression of the stubborn French kings, "I am the state"?

Mr. Prime Minister should return as soon as possible from where he came, either to his office in the Socialist Party to resolve the problems within his Party with the arrested militant Erion Veliaj, or to his office in the Prime Minister's office to lead the Government for as long as he has left. The Municipality of Tirana should not be dealt with by the Prime Minister, but by the elected officials of Tirana based on the laws in force.

The law gives the Government the right to intervene in a Municipality only after three months of absence of the mayor. The time has come to forcefully tell this Prime Minister that in Albania, he, Maliqi, no longer makes the Law.
