Denounced for violence, the Ministry of Justice asks the television to remove Drenusha's ex-husband from BBVK

The National Coordinator and the Interministerial Group Against Domestic Violence, Violence against Women and Gender-Based Violence has asked Klan Kosova television to remove contestant Atilla Kardesh from the "Big Brother" reality show.

Kardesh is the ex-husband of the contestant and singer, Drenusha Latifi, who has confessed to Atilla's barbaric violence during the period when they were married.

The coordinator requests urgent actions to be taken for the removal of Atilla Kardesh to distance himself from an individual who was once denounced for violence by his ex-wife, as well as the undertaking of measures for Klan Kosovo.

Reaction of the National Coordinator and the Interministerial Group Against Domestic Violence, Violence against Women and Gender-Based Violence

The National Coordinator for protection from domestic violence, violence against women and gender-based violence, and the Interministerial Group strongly react to the decision of Klan Kosova Television to bring the person who has been denounced for domestic violence into a house as part of a television show. against whom there was a Protective Order until September of this year. This decision, among other things, aims to minimize and normalize a dangerous phenomenon that our society is facing, such as domestic violence.

The interministerial group for the protection and prevention of violence against women and domestic violence requests urgent actions to be taken:

1. The decision to leave the show - TV show Big Brother the person denounced for domestic violence, Atilla Kardesh

2. The undertaking of measures by the Independent Media Commission in relation to this scandalous decision of Klan Kosova television.

3. The general evaluation of the contents of the broadcasts in Kosovo in relation to the sensitive gender reporting, the re-victimization of the victims of violence and the psychological pressure caused to the victims of violence.

The Republic of Kosovo through the amendment of the Constitution has made the Istanbul Convention an integral part of it and the same prevails over the local legislation. Based on the mandate given under this Convention, respectively the institutional responsibilities Article 12 of the Istanbul Convention - General obligations:

Point 2. Parties shall take the necessary legislative and other measures to prevent all forms of violence covered by the scope of this Convention by any natural or legal person.

Point 3. Any measures taken under this chapter take into consideration the specific needs of persons without protection due to special circumstances and give priority to the rights of all victims.

Koordinatorja Nacionale dhe përfaqësuesit e grupit ndërministror me qëllim të zbatimit ‘’të masave për të promovuar dhe mbrojtur të drejtën për çdokënd, veçanërisht gratë, për të jetuar pa dhunë në sferën publike, si dhe në atë private”, tërheqin vëmendjen e televizionit të lartëcekur, në rastin e znj. Drenusha Latifi pjesëmarrëse e emisionit ‘’Big Brother’’ e cila është e mbijetuar e dhunës në familje, dhe e cila ka poseduar Urdhër Mbrojtje (UM) prej ish bashkëshortit të saj, z. Atilla Kardesh, i cili UM ishte aktiv nga data 10/02/2024 për periudhën kohore në afat prej 6 muajsh.

Vendosja e znj. Latifi nën presion psikologjik përballë ish bashkëshortit i cili është cilësuar si dhunues me vetë lëshimin e UM, është formë e dhunës psikologjike, e cila e vendos znj. Latifi në pozitë të cenueshme psikologjike, dhe paraqet mundësi të ri-viktimizimit por tani në situatë të presionit psikologjik publik.

Situata me të cilin potencialisht do të përballet znj. Latifi, në praninë e ish bashkëshortit “dhunues” paraqet rast të veçantë, dhe në emër të prioritizimit të mbrojtjes së dinjitetit të një të mbijetuare të dhunës në familje – viktimë, e cila është shprehur publikisht për kërcënimet nga ish bashkëshorti, tashmë të provuara, bëjmë thirrje menaxhmentit të Klan Kosova të tërheqë z. Atilla Kardesh nga formati televiziv, për të parandaluar çfarëdo lloj forme të presionit, ose dhunës psikologjike, që rëndon pozicionin dhe krijon kushte për ri-përjetimin e dhunës nga e mbijetuara znj. Latifi.

Konventa e Stambollit obligon shtetin që të ndërmarr të gjitha veprimet përmes Nenit 13 të Konventës “për të rritur ndërgjegjësimin dhe perceptimin nga publiku i gjerë, në lidhje me manifestimet e ndryshme të të gjitha formave të dhunës të mbuluara nga objekti i kësaj Konvente, pasojat e tyre për fëmijët dhe nevojën për të parandaluar një dhunë të tillë”.

Nisur nga fakti se znj. Latifi dhe ish bashkëshorti i saj kanë dy fëmijë të përbashkët, shprehim shqetësimin tonë, se fëmijët e ish çiftit janë vendosur në rrethanat e rrezikut potencial për viktimizim dhe ri-viktimizim, duke u bërë publikisht dëshmitarë të situatave potencialisht të dhunshme verbale apo fizike, përmes presionit publik i cili do të transmetohet në opinion, dhe kjo do të ketë ndikim negativ në mirëqenien emocionale të fëmijëve.

Therefore, in the capacity of the Institutional Mechanism for nationwide coordination against violence against women, with the aim of preventing any kind of psychological, verbal or physical violence, we appeal to the Management of Klan Kosova to take a decision on the removal of Mr. Atilla Kardesh from the show, with the aim of preventing and protecting the psychological and physical well-being and preserving the dignity of the victim.

Starting from the history of the experiences of the survivor of violence, evidenced by the actual existence of UM within a period of 6 months, as well as the confessions made public by the survivor herself, in order to prevent violence and psychological pressure that could potentially to be exercised by the ex-husband present in the format of the show, as well as to prevent public pressure that can be exerted by the audience of the show itself, because such an approach relativizes violence against women, paves the way for the expression of hate speech in public discourse, through derogatory comments that can convey the situation.

We consider the media as the most powerful allies in the prevention of violence against women and their proactive approach to broadcast media programs that strengthen the role of women in society, prevent violence against women by creating safe and non-discriminatory environments against women is imperative.

The show in question has a wide audience and directly and indirectly puts the public and society in the position of "complicit", in real time, of pressure and psychological violence, which we believe is not the aim of the show and policies editorial of Television.
