French Minister Jean-Noel Barrot: Twitter will be banned in the EU if it breaks the rules
Twitter will be banned in the EU if it breaks its rules, said the minister and delegate for digital technologies, Jean-Noel Barrot. At the same time, he expressed concern about future European regulation regarding artificial intelligence (AI), Le Figaro reported.
"If Twitter doesn't work according to our rules, it will be banned in the EU," he said. The announcement comes after the social networking platform officially announced the EU Code against online disinformation, announced by the European Commissioner for Industry, Thierry Breton.
He recalled that the social network, run by American billionaire Elon Musk, remains legally subject to European rules.
"Twitter plays an important role in public debate, but we cannot risk a social network like Twitter being held hostage by disinformation advocates and that, as a result, our public debate, our democracy, will be affected," Jean said . -Noel.
"That's why we have clear rules and Twitter must respect them ," he added.
