The son of former footballer Michael Ballack dies at the age of 18 in a motorcycle accident

Emilio Ballack, 18, is said to have died in a 4-wheeled motorcycle accident in Portugal, causing great pain to the legend of the Chelsea team and the German national team, former footballer Michael Ballack and his family.

The son of former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack, Emilio is said to have been killed in a tragic accident in Portugal. Portuguese media report that the tragedy took place in Troy, south of Lisbon, near a house his father bought years ago.

Germany Michael Ballack is widely regarded as one of the best players of his homeland. He joined Chelsea in 2006 and won titles in his first season at the club. He left Stamford Bridge after playing part of the league and cup double in 2010.

Emilio posted photos of the sunset on a Portuguese beach over the weekend, as well as another photo of the Comporta Beach Club.

The Troy Peninsula, opposite Setubal where Jose Mourinho comes from, is one of Portugal's most beautiful coastlines with an eight-kilometer stretch of pristine sand and crystal clear waters.

Local reports said the accident that resulted in the loss of life of Michael Ballack's son occurred near an apartment block known as 'Villas do Mar'.

Details of the fatal accident have not yet been made public.

Attempts to rescue the young man at the scene were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenager's body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in the town of Santiago de Cacem south of the accident site for autopsy.
