Prince William has spoken of his mother, Princess Diana, and her love for Tina Turner, revealing that they often sang her biggest hits while driving to school together when he and his brother, Harry, were children.

"Because sitting in the back seat, singing away, I felt like a real family moment."

William, who was 15 when Princess Wells died in 1997, continued: "My mother, she was walking by car singing loudly in her head. We even put the police [security] in the car: time after time. "Sometimes he would sing with us. We sang and listened to music at the school gates where we had to go down."

William says his children with wife Kate Middleton - Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6 and Prince Louis, 3 - have "already inherited my family's love for music".

"Most mornings there is a massive fight between Charlotte and George over which song should be played in the morning," he added.

Questions and answers were recorded for "In Time to Walk," an Apple Music "audio experience" that encourages listeners to walk for their mental and physical health. The interview will be available Monday on Apple Music.
