Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked actor and director Sean Penn for making a documentary about the war in Ukraine. The Oscar winner traveled to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on the first day of the Russian occupation in February.

Posting a video of Penn meeting with Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian parliament shared a message from the Ukrainian president.

"Soon the whole world will be able to see the whole truth about the war thanks to his film," he said.

"Sean thank you for the support of our state and our people."

Penn is best known for his roles in the mysterious drama Mystic River and the biographical film Milk.
