The main suspect in the murder of Vanja Gjorčevska has been arrested in Turkey. The suspect has been identified as Lupço Palevski , 59 years old,
Palevski, for whom there was an international arrest warrant, was captured in the Turkish city of Balikesir, while the Macedonian authorities have started the procedures for his extradition. After the incident, Ljupo Pacevski traveled to Serbia, then via Bulgaria to Turkey.
The Macedonian Ministry of the Interior has filed criminal charges against 5 people suspected of being involved in the two murders. Among those detained is Vanja's father, Aleksandar Gjorčevski.
He has been remanded in custody for 48 hours. It is said that he gave details to the main suspect about the movement, namely about the day and time when his daughter went to school unaccompanied.
Vanja Gjorčevska was declared missing on November 27. According to investigations by local authorities, the minor was kidnapped and killed with the intention of taking money from her mother, who had divorced her husband.
The suspected author of the murder, Ljupço Palevski, was known as a businessman in the field of construction, but also a politician of a small party.
