Vucic in a meeting with Lajcak and Escobar: Kosovo must fulfill its obligations

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said that it is time for the authorities in Kosovo to fulfill their obligations and first of all to form the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.

According to a post on the social network Instagram, Vucic made these statements during the meeting in Belgrade with the emissary of the European Union, Miroslav Lajcak, and that of the United States, Gabriel Escobar.

"Since the first day, Serbia has been constructive, consistent and a stable partner in all processes that would lead to the maintenance of stability throughout the region", said Vucic.

The visit of Lajcak and Escobar comes after they held meetings in Kosovo for two days with the heads of state and representatives of the opposition parties.

The visit of two high-ranking officials to Pristina and Belgrade was realized after the increase of tensions and protests of local Serbs, which are still continuing in the north of Kosovo.

The emissaries have requested that the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, calm down the situation in the north, hold new elections and return to the dialogue with Serbia.

Before visiting Belgrade, Escobar told reporters in Pristina that relations between the people of the USA and Kosovo are strong and will not change, but "there are some challenges in the bilateral relations with the prime minister [of Kosovo, Albin Kurti]." .

According to him, the way forward that would lead to the immediate reduction of tensions would be for the new Albanian mayors of the municipalities in the north not to work from municipal buildings, to organize new elections with the participation of Serbs and to implement the Agreement towards the normalization of reports that Kosovo and Serbia have reached earlier this year./ REL
