Donald Trump named Time magazine's "Person of the Year"

The new President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has been named "Person of the Year" by Time magazine.

As the magazine points out, for 97 years, Time editors have chosen the person of the year, the person who more than anyone else has shaped the world and the media headlines over the past 12 months.

"This election has been difficult for many years. In 2024 it was not," the publication says.

As the editors explain, since his rise in 2015 as a White House contender, “no single person has played a greater role in changing the course of politics and history than Trump.”

The year 2024 marks the seventh consecutive time that the winner of the presidential election was also named 'Person of the Year'.

Trump was named 'Person of the Year' in 2016 after his victory in that year's election. Since Jimmy Carter, every president has been named Person of the Year at least once. Gerald Ford was the last US president never to be named 'Person of the Year'.
