The European Commission has suspended co-operation with Russian entities in research, science and innovation following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the commission said in a statement on Friday.
The EC has suspended payments to Russian entities under existing contracts and will not enter into any new contracts or any new agreements with Russian organizations, CNN reports .
"EU research cooperation is based on respect for freedoms and rights that underpin excellence and innovation. Russia's hated military aggression against Ukraine is an attack on the same values. "It's time to end our research cooperation with Russia . "
The European Commission said that the assessment of the situation regarding Belarus is ongoing.
