According to a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on Saturday, preliminary reports indicate that the missile was fired by Russian forces and hit the rear of the cargo ship "Namura Queen" on Friday.

"The tugboat 'P&O STAR' came to the rescue. "The situation is under control," the post reads. He added that the ship was sailing under the Panamanian flag and was heading to Pivdennyy port.

Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported on Saturday that the crew of "Namura Queen" are all safe. According to a website tracking ship positions, the ship is currently en route to Istanbul, Turkey.

Ukraine's Defense Ministry also reported that another ship was shot down by a Russian warship on Friday. The ship, the "Millenial Spirit", was sailing under the Moldovan flag and was carrying 600 tonnes of oil on board when it was hit. Two crew members were seriously injured, according to the ministry.
