"Even in prison my friend will be", when Rama was fighting to protect

Vangjush Dako, the former mayor of Durrës, was arrested yesterday after an arrest warrant that SPAK issued against him. Dako surrendered to the Tirana Police.

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted after Dako's arrest with a post on social networks. Rama wrote that SPAK is hitting people connected to the government and that this makes him feel bad.

"People connected to the government are being hit. This makes you feel bad, because until yesterday he was by your side and today he is in front of the lawyer. Something must have happened. The force of power can also be used for things that don't work ," said Rama.

But unlike yesterday, three years ago, Rama spoke with conviction that even if Dalo were to be locked in a cell, he would still remain a friend of the prime minister.

"Vangjush Dako has been, is and will be my friend. Even if he goes to prison tomorrow, Vangjush Dako is my friend" , declared Rama at the time.

In the "Opinion" studio, Rama said that the State Department does not define his friends, but his conviction and morals. Rama waged an open war with journalists to protect Dako, who is now behind bars.

"Vangjush Dako has been, is and will be my friend. DASH doesn't define who I have and who I don't have as friends. My friends are defined by my morals and convictions. Even if he goes to prison tomorrow, Vangjush Dako is my friend, but with Dako I have never committed or collaborated in any violation of Albanian law. Is it fair to say what I said? Who are you to give morals to others? You have no chance of moralizing me. I don't have a single penny in my pocket that doesn't belong to me from my work. If he is my friend, and commits an offense and goes to jail. If there is an accusation against him, he will leave the SP" , were Rama's words in 2020.
