Berisha: "Open Balkan" will massively mark the bankruptcy of our farms
The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a conversation with farmers regarding subsidies, the lack of a market and the departure of the workforce.
Berisha said in his speech that the opening of customs within the "Open Balkans" initiative will mark the bankruptcy of Albanian farms. The chief democrat said that the subsidies received by Albanian farmers are only a fraction of those received by those from the former Yugoslavia.
"The opening of customs within the framework of the "Open Balkans" will massively mark the bankruptcy of our farms. Imports of agricultural products from Serbia have increased by 250% in just one year. At a time when the current and decades-long subsidies for the farmers of the former Yugoslavia have been hundreds of times larger than the crumbs that the Albanian farmers could have received," said Berisha.
