Berisha to Greek media: I am against the agreement with Melon, Rama and other

Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha conducted an interview with Greek media outlet enikos.gr, discussing topics including the May 11 parliamentary elections, relations with Turkey, protection of Greek property in Himare and his stance on the current government.

Berisha stressed that after the DP victory, relations with Turkey will be normal and friendly, but will not have the character of the close relations that Prime Minister Edi Rama had with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He added that, after the DP's victory, relations with Albania's neighbours, including Greece, will be open and friendly.

Regarding the rights of Greeks and property in Himare, Berisha has expressed his commitment to protect them, ensuring that no Albanian government in the future will be able to touch the properties of the Greek minority.

He also stressed that there have been no complaints about the confiscation of property during his rule and promised to annul the law on strategic investments, which he said allowed land grabs.

INTERVIEW AND PLOTË:

You called it a narcodicator. Do you intend to imprison him when you come to power?

Sali Berisha: The damage albania has suffered in the years of narco-dictatorship is extraordinary. I can't say that the main responsibilities, among which Rama is, will not face the law. It's not my intention. But the consequences of narcotics were such that it is very difficult to think that those who imposed narco-dictatorship in Albania could escape the law.

As Samuel Huntington said, "Narcotics are worse than any other dictatorship, than communist dictatorship, Nazi dictatorship, theocratic dictatorship, and military coups. I don't think it's possible that the law will not work for those who have established dictatorships.

Rama maintains friendly relations with Erdogan. Will you maintain this friendship and close cooperation with Turkey?

Sali Berisha: Turkey is an ally, a partner of Albania. Relations between Albania and Turkey can never be at the expense of a third party. On the contrary, Albania will maintain very good relations with its neighbours, greece, other countries, but of course relations with Turkey will be normal relations. I can't say that they will have the character of the relations that Rama-Erdogan had, because I'm not for those kinds of relations. I'm for normal, friendly relations, and that's it.

What are the first steps you will take to strengthen ties between Greece and Albania?

Sali Berisha: I think that the ties between Greece and Albania as a whole have their positive developments, but the problems created these years are problems that in some way slowed down these relations, but also damaged them.

I think that resolving the Sea Agreement, restoring and establishing this agreement for a solution is one of my objectives. One cannot imagine in a democratic country that anyone will be given a mandate for their ethnicity. Every Albanian citizen, by constitution, has the right and will have the right to assume any function entity that Albanian citizens entity trust with their free vote. And this, I believe, is the most just response to the unconstitutional, antidemocratic act of getting the mandates, as happened with the Beleri case.

What will you do with the property of the Greeks in Himare and the rights of the Greek minority in general?

Sali Berisha: Rights with property of every citizen of Himara and Albania, principle first, the government cannot touch them. I have been in power for eight years and there has been no complaint about taking even 1m2 of land. No complaints, because it was out of all imagination. The first act I'm going to do is repeal the Strategic Investment Act, a law by which the government robs everyone's land.

Second, I will make everything equiped, in units of time as soon as possible, with all regular documentation, the true masters of the lands. They are Greeks, Albanians, Romanians, whatever they are. The purpose of the property is one and only one: respect for the right of the property and the owner.

Edi Rama has voted a law, which de facto potentially makes land all over the Albanian coast confiscatable for mafia motives.

You've got Chris LaCivita the lead campaign manager of Donald Trump on your campaign team. Do you have president Trump's support?

BERRY: I can't say that. I have total and complete support of Chris LaCivita who co-directed the most successful campaign of all time. He is chairman of the Republican National Committee, but is not contracted on behalf of President Trump. For many reasons, the Democratic Party of Albania supported the American Republican Party in the elections, and in this respect it is a very precious ally of us.

What will you do with the Government of North Macedonia and the Albanian minority in this neighboring country?

Sali Berisha: We are on very good terms with our neighbours. The problem isn't that they're not created these days. I think we will not agree with a regression of the rights of Albanians in this republic. I hope that dialogue, I always believe in dialogue, in constructive spirit. With dialogue it is entirely possible to solve any problem we have.

How much does the cooperation with Italy on immigration and the migrant problem, the Rama-Meloni agreement?

N. S. BERRY: We were against this deal. Of course, sanctioned by the Constitutional Court, we will respect this agreement within its five-year term.
