EU envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Sorensen, official meeting in Pristina

The European Union's envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sorensen, stayed in Pristina today for an unannounced visit, where he was received by the acting Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi.

Sorensen said he is staying in Pristina in the framework of implementing his mandate as EU envoy, while calling his visit "a normal visit."

"Just a normal visit like any other. I'm happy to be here. We'll continue now to Belgrade and then to Brussels. We're working and that's it," said Sorensen.

A week ago, EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas stated that the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue has stalled and they will look to normalize Kosovo-Serbia relations, whether through dialogue or some other instrument.

Kallas stressed that she is ready to discuss this issue together with the special representative for the dialogue, Peter Sorensen.

Due to rising tensions in the northern part of Kosovo, since September 2023 there has been no high-level meeting between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels, but only talks at the level of chief negotiators.
