Ivi Kaso 'deconstructs' the meeting with the Chief Prosecutor: Electoral crimes must be investigated

Ivi Kaso 'deconstructs' the meeting with the Chief Prosecutor:

The Secretary for Legal and Electoral Affairs at the Democratic Party, Ivi Kaso, revealed details from today's meeting that he and the Deputy Leader of the DP, Oerd Bylykbashi, had with the Chief Prosecutor General Olsian Çela and other officials of this Prosecutor's Office.

Invited to A2 CNN, Kaso said that the reason for this meeting was to discuss measures to be taken by the District Prosecutors' Offices for electoral crimes.

This is because, according to Kaso, only a small portion of electoral crimes are investigated by SPAK, while the majority are investigated by district prosecutors' offices, and according to him, they should give a clear message to all citizens that electoral crimes will be punished.

"Today, together with Bylykbashi, we held a meeting with the Prosecutor General and senior officials of the General Prosecutor's Office, with the aim of discussing what is an emergency in relation to the upcoming electoral process, which is not only the impunity that has characterized the recent electoral processes, but the giving of essential signals by law enforcement agencies, from the Prosecutor's Office in particular, that electoral crime will not remain unchallenged, will not remain unchallenged, unpunished.

The main focus in the public discourse has been SPAK, SPAK does everything, SPAK will deal with corruption of politicians, but also with electoral crime. Of course, some of the crimes, the most serious ones of the electoral process, fall under the scope of SPAK's activity, such as vote buying and electoral crimes committed by high-ranking officials.

But we know that most of the problems of electoral crimes arise from the use of state resources, the use of administration, the failure to implement the obligations of law enforcement agencies, acts related to the interaction of a number of officials, especially those at low and medium levels. And it is no coincidence that the majority of electoral crimes are covered by the ordinary prosecution. Taking the necessary measures to prepare the electoral process , "said Kaso,
