President Ilir Meta today invited the political parties for a consultation to determine the date of the local by-elections. Meta announced that there are two dates under discussion, February 27 and March 6.

Speaking to the media, Meta was asked if holding local elections was a 'trap' for Lulzim Basha. The latter stated for RTV Ora that the DP will never leave the battles, including the local elections.

"The first work of the Democratic Party will not escape any battle, nothing battle including local elections, the second political factor is a definition which must change in this new political culture that the Democratic Party is presenting in Albania. What is happening is not just a clash between completely different views on pluralism and democracy, it is a cultural change that is happening for the second time, 31 years ago led us from monism to pluralism but not exactly to democracy and now it aims to turn Albania into a normal European democratic country and a normal European democratic country, the most important political factor is the public opinion, it is the citizens ", said Basha.

Recall that it was the head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, who appeared first to hold consultations with the president. Meta said that the meeting with Balla was an informal request of the Socialists, emphasizing that Balla also confirmed his participation in the elections.
