From the will to appear every night in front of the Democrats to the strength to fight Rama, Berisha interviewed for Rai 3
In an exclusive confession from his home, the chief democrat Sali Berisha was the guest of the popular Italian show "Il cavallo e la torre" on Rai 3.
He has spoken to the Italian media and his determined battle, although he has been under 'house arrest' for 10 months.
The interview includes moments from the daily march under Berisha's apartment, to the Meloni-Rama agreement and the protests that the democratic party together with the opposition forces have carried out.
FULL INTERVIEW
Journalist: You go out to the balcony every day and talk to your supporters. You are currently under house arrest.
Berisha: I continue my battle for the values I believe in, for the principles I defend. The cause is right.
Journalist: According to Albanian law, can you give this interview?
Berisha: According to Albanian law, yes; according to the decisions of Edi Rama's slaves, no.
Berisha: The 'Meloni-Rama' agreement was not acceptable to us.
Journalist: Are you talking about the agreement for foreigners in northern Albania?
Berisha: Yes, for that.
Journalist: Are you against this agreement?
Berisha: We have always been against it for a single reason: human rights! This was the most secret post WWII deal I have ever seen. The President of the Republic of Albania learned about it from TV. He was at a conference when reporters asked him and he didn't know anything.
Journalist: Giorgia Meloni is pursuing a policy of externalizing borders.
Berisha: I absolutely do not think that this is the solution: being a reservoir for immigrants going to European countries cannot be accepted.
Journalist: May I ask you, personally, what is your relationship with Giorgia Meloni?
Berisha: I admired Meloni as an extraordinary electoral "machine". It has been an electoral phenomenon. It became the first violin of Italian politics.
Journalist: But a great friendship was born between Meloni and Edi Rama?
Berisha: Edi Rama is a bluffist, he said he never loses anything. He said that everything is Italian, because he knew that there would be a long-term problem from the point of view of public relations, media and human rights organizations. He knew this and wanted to pretend he had nothing to do with these problems.
Journalist: So he's abdicating his responsibility and passing it on to Giorgia Meloni?
Berisha: Yes!
Journalist: But then why did Giorgia Meloni jump into this idea of two centers in Albania?
Berisha: I don't know and I haven't understood this, because Meloni made this very important agreement in Europe.
Journalist: And why did Edi Rama do it?
Berisha: Rama does everything to strengthen his power.
Journalist: Because of the elections?
Berisha: Due to the elections, Rama has also committed serious crimes.
Journalist in protest: Sali Berisha's supporters have blocked the road that leads from Tirana to Durrës. They protest against the government of Edi Rama.
Berisha: We are in a dictatorial regime. The government controls the will of the citizens by various means. We will fight with all our strength so that Albanians have the right to vote as free citizens.
