"The CEC should convene urgently", the DP casts doubts on the diaspora

The Democratic Party has raised suspicions about the manipulation of the diaspora voting process.

The legal representative of the Democratic Party of Albania (DP) has sent an official request to the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, for the immediate suspension of the process of printing documentation for voters from the diaspora. He also requests an urgent meeting of the CEC at 11:30.

According to the DP, serious irregularities were found during the preparation of the documentation, which could jeopardize the integrity of the process.

DP observers have reported that in some cases the address label for the same voter was printed twice, which means that a person could receive two envelopes with ballots.

"Our observers have informed us that during the process of preparing the electoral documentation for voters from abroad, there was a problem related to the double printing of the address label, which in practical terms means that a voter may receive two envelopes (two ballots), thus risking having more votes than the number of voters. According to our observers, 14 cases have been identified, but there may be others.

Under these conditions, in order to fully clarify this issue and take measures, we request that the process be suspended and that we urgently meet today at 11:30 at the "Feti Borova" sports palace to discuss this issue. This request aims to guarantee the regularity, legality and integrity of the process and in no way delay it," the DP statement says.
