The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs reacts after the detention and removal from the territory of Serbia of two Albanians, representatives of civil society, who had participated in a seminar in Belgrade.

In an official announcement, the ministry says it has summoned the Serbian ambassador, Slobodan Vukčević, to express its concern.

" Today, on January 23, 2025, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Slobodan Vukčević, was summoned to the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, regret and serious concern were expressed regarding the detention and removal from the territory of Serbia of two Albanian citizens, representatives of civil society, who participated in a seminar in Belgrade.


This action is not considered consistent with our desire and efforts to maintain good neighborly relations, and has a negative impact on the free movement of our citizens.

The MEPJ requested clarifications regarding this case and stressed the need for the Serbian authorities to review and consider appealing the decisions taken. It was also requested that such events not be allowed to repeat in the future.

"This case is being followed with full attention by the Albanian Embassy in Belgrade," the MEPJ's response states.
