The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime left the General Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Joana Duro, in prison this Monday.

Also, at least until the end of the investigation, Laureta Sheto will also remain in prison.

They are accused of corruption of high state officials. From the investigations, it was found that the secretary has benefited an amount of 330 thousand lek for a tendering procedure.

According to SPAK, the amount of 330 thousand Lek was given as a bribe by the Administrator Vladimir Topi, with the aim of illegally benefiting from the tender developed by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection for Lot 1.

The limit fund of this tender is said to have been 805 thousand ALL. The investigations revealed that the amount of money was first given to the engineer Silvi Shehi in Topi's apartment, and then sent to Laura Sheto, who was the person who knew and was in contact with the secretary of the ministry.

The two representatives of the company are accused of "active corruption of high state officials or local elected officials".

The amount of money was found in the secretary's office, immediately after the arrest by the police. The two officials who were arrested on Friday, Joana Duro and Laura Sheto, are accused by SPAK of the criminal offenses "Active and passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials".

SPAK clarified that the investigations are started on the basis of the information provided by the National Bureau of Investigation, which also participated in the arrest, together with the Special Operational Force in the General Directorate of Police.
