Democracy Index, "The Economist": Albania marks progress, problems

Albania has made progress for the second year in a row in the Democracy Index. According to "The Economist" , our country is ranked 68th, while a year ago it was listed in the 71st position.

In terms of the region, the most noticeable improvement is Serbia, which ranks 63rd. While other countries come after Albania.

The country is weaker in the category of "political participation", which had a score of 4.44, the same as last year. No progress has been made in the "electoral process and pluralism" category either.

The most democratic country in the world is Norway, followed by New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Iceland. Several recent reports by international organizations have raised concerns about press freedom in Albania, which is an indicator of the level of democracy in the country.
