Offensive and discriminatory language, activist: We have filed two complaints

Civil society activist Vilson Blloshmi announces that two complaints have been filed regarding the use of discriminatory language by Prime Minister Edi Rama during the election campaign.

In an interview with "MCN Informacion", Blloshmi calls for immediate intervention by the Commissioner against Discrimination, emphasizing that such language is especially dangerous when it comes from high levels of government.

" We filed two complaints on Thursday of last week, regarding two parts of the prime minister's campaign, in which specifically in the first he openly discriminates against, let's say, half of the men he considers, who according to him are çyryk."

Meanwhile, the other complaint we have filed, again in this context of the discriminatory language expressed by him, is the language he used towards girls, objectifying girls on the basis of gender, saying that you should use your power of attraction for wavering boys, because we need every vote on May 11th.

Both of these statements, which are part of the campaign of Prime Minister Edi Rama's Socialist Party, are very concerning to us, because they are pure discrimination. Both cases are gender-based and in one case there is also the objectification and sexualization of the bodies of women and girls.

What we expect from the anti-discrimination commissioner is actually to take measures regarding this language used by the prime minister. Because it is very disturbing when this language is used not by ordinary people, but by a man who is a government official and instead of us fighting every corner of society.

Such discriminatory language is propagated and promoted by the Prime Minister himself.

On the other hand, since we are now very close to election day, we also ask the commissioner to not only address this issue, but to also address it in a timely manner, so within the legal deadlines, of course, but on the other hand, it is necessary.

"We ask for a faster treatment in time, for it to be even more effective while we still have the election. So, we ask for it to be before the election, not to be bypassed and a decision to be given after the election. And finally, one thousand nine hundred and ninety-four."
