Children with developmental and speech delays due to "cellphone in

And while one in 31 children is being born with autism spectrum disorders influenced by many factors, whether genetic or not, we are cultivating another kind of virtual autism by leaving children with cell phones in their hands from a very young age.

"It's the same as autism with the same symptoms, creating delays in development and speech. We are seeing children who start speaking at the age of 3," says speech therapist Elis Musaraj.

"Up to 2 years old, categorically prohibited," he says.

Children born with spectrum disorders are diagnosed late in our country because not only parents but also educators in nurseries or kindergartens are not trained to recognize symptoms early. Exposing these children to phones or screens causes double damage.

"There is increased anxiety, repetitive movements, and delays in communication," the speech therapist emphasizes.

The increase in autism rates in Albania, as in other countries, requires intervention by state structures to support families that have members with spectrum disorders, and this is not just about support through camps./TCH
