Defrauding citizens with fake banking messages, 23-year-old arrested in Tirana

Tirana Police have arrested a 23-year-old man, accused of fraud by sending false messages. As part of the operation codenamed "MISLEADING MESSAGES", citizen Adem Said, born and residing in France, has been arrested.

According to authorities, the young man sent citizens in Albania a fake link, which imitated a second-tier bank branch, requesting personal banking details. After receiving the information, he used the details to withdraw money from ATMs and banking apps.

Adem Said was caught red-handed at an ATM in Tirana, withdrawing money from an account he had obtained through this fraud scheme. Police say he had defrauded hundreds of citizens, mainly from France, before coming to Albania to withdraw the money.

Three cell phones have been seized as material evidence, while investigations continue to identify and prosecute other persons involved in this criminal activity.
