The only former Ballon d'Or winner who did not vote for Lamine Yamal
Lamine Yamal lifted his first trophy in Paris, hailing him as the best young player in the world after his impressive European performance with Spain in Germany.
Ballon d'Or winners throughout history were required to vote. Every voter, apart from Ronaldo Nazario, gave the Barcelona star the top spot. Notably, Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo left this vote.
Last week in Paris, 23 Ballon d'Or winners cast their vote for the Cup Trophy. 22 of them announced Lamine Yamal as the undisputed winner, including Luka Modric and Karim Benzema. Of course, Leo Messi also placed Yamal above his compatriot Garnacho, who he ranked third behind Cubarsí. Cristiano Ronaldo and Zidane did not participate in the vote.
The only Ballon d'Or winner who did not put Lamine Yamal atop the Kopa Trophy was Ronaldo Nazario. The Brazilian forward, a former Barcelona player and two-time Ballon d'Or winner (1997 and 2002), favored Savinho ahead of Yamal, placing Arda Güler in third place.
