Logu: Majority examples encouraged violations of the secrecy of the diaspora

The legal representative of the DP, Marash Logu, said that they have appealed to all voters from the diaspora not to publish their vote as this is problematic and constitutes a legal violation.

Invited to the Review show, on Euronews Albania, Logu described the trend of publishing votes by some immigrants as a result of the example set by the majority exponents themselves who, according to him, have created the wrong impression that publishing votes is acceptable, thus encouraging dangerous behavior in the electoral process.

" I have emphasized that voters from the diaspora should be careful and not take photographs or make videos of how they voted, because this clearly constitutes a criminal offense and risks them being held criminally liable."

Despite our efforts and opportunities, we are unable to deliver the message to every voter, but this phenomenon actually began with a post by Rama, where he published a photo of a family from the diaspora who had received the envelope, where there was a voter with his wife who had published a ballot envelope.

On the 17th, Mr. Rama and Mr. Klosi had a meeting in Dibra, where Mr. Klosi said: "The first vote came from Dibra and our patronage agent informed us that it was a vote for the left." When voters see these examples, they think that there is nothing problematic about making a post out of goodwill towards a certain political entity.

"But in fact, even such simple actions can have legal consequences, as they violate the principle of secrecy of the vote, " said the DP's legal representative, Marash Logu.

He said that the DP continues to appeal to voters from the diaspora not to publish their vote and to maintain the constitutional principle of equal and secret voting.
