The police have issued an official announcement regarding the operation to implement 16 security measures against employees and former employees of OSHEE, who are accused of abuse of office.

Four employees have been assigned the security measure "prison arrest", six have been assigned "house arrest", and six others have been assigned "compulsion to appear".

A former employee, under house arrest, has been declared wanted.

Police announcement:

As a result of a months-long investigation, with proactive methods, conducted in cooperation with the Gjirokastra Prosecutor's Office, on the report made by the General Anti-Corruption Directorate of the Ministry of Justice, the police operation codenamed "Kilovat" is finalized.

Security measures, ordered by the Gjirokastra Court, are being implemented for 16 citizens:

"Prison arrest" for 4 citizens and "house arrest" for 6 citizens, employees and former employees of OShEE, Gjirokastra, who, in collaboration with each other, misused the material base of the directorate, as well as provided and installed electricity meters without registering them;

"Obligation to report to the Judicial Police" and "Prohibition to leave the country" for 6 citizens who stole electricity through these meters.

1 former employee is wanted, under house arrest, for the same criminal activity.

Seized from the apartment of one of the arrested: 22 electricity meters, as well as 13 plastic boxes and 9 seals for their placement and sealing. Also, other items that served this criminal activity and various documents for the purpose of the investigation were seized.

During Operation "Kilowatt", the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Operational Section and the "Eagle" Special Forces Section, executed the following security measure:

"Arrest in prison", for citizens:

-SK, 30 years old, resident of Libohova, with the position of group leader;

-R. Gj., 60 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, with the position of group leader;

-RB, 51 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, working as an electrician;

-IB, 32 years old, resident of the village of Lazarat, former employee.

"House arrest" for citizens:

-Xh. B., 62 years old, resident of the village of Mashkullor, working as an electrician;

-E. Xh., 39 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, with the job of biller;

-RS, 68 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, former employee;

-SR, 42 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, former employee;

-SB, 58 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, working as an electrician;

-TB, 37 years old, resident of Konispol, works as an electrician.

"Obligation to report to the Judicial Police" and "Prohibition to leave the country", for 6 citizens accused of electricity theft.

The investigations suspect that employees and former employees of OShEE, Gjirokastra, have misused the material base in the directorate's warehouse to procure and install electricity meters, without a contract with OShEE, with the aim of obtaining illegal benefits from household subscribers and entities, who, through these meters, stole electricity.

In the apartment of the arrested 32-year-old man, seized items were found as material evidence and an illegal electricity connection was found.

The procedural materials were referred to the Gjirokastra Prosecutor's Office for further action, for the criminal offenses of "Abuse of office", committed in collaboration, and "Theft of electricity or telephone pulses".
