The Ethnographic Museum of Elbasan is closed for several months
Starting from October 8, 2024, the Ethnographic Museum of Elbasan, opened in 1986, will be closed for a period of 4-6 months as necessary restoration works will be carried out due to the amortization of the roof, floor, doors, windows. etc.
A company with a lot of experience in the coming months will carry out works in the Ethnographic Museum of Elbasan for its structural and aesthetic improvement and with the aim of guaranteeing not only environments with a fantastic view but also very safe ones for the visitors that this year have multiplied compared to last year.
This museum contains the historical framework, craftsmanship, with about 80 types of crafts, clothing, the type of typical Elbasan civic dwelling. It fanatically preserves the handicrafts made by various citizens of Elbasan, as well as a series of documents that talk about the ancient history of this city. There are men's and women's costumes made by talented Albanian tailors who stood out for their special Albanian style.
They are a rich mosaic of clothing that reflects the ethnographic features of the province. In this museum, there are vests, jamadanas, jhybes, dollomanes, etc., made of expensive pieces, decorated with local motifs and woven with braids and silver or gold wire. Men's and women's costumes are kept in separate rooms of this museum and stand out for their beauty and elegance and are highly valued by foreigners. A first-class dolloman or jacket made of imported red velvet used by the high aristocracy was extremely expensive for the time and not everyone was lucky enough to wear one.
