Took the post of head of the State Police, who is Sokol Bizhga

The Deputy Director General, Sokol Bizhga will temporarily take the position of the head of the State Police after the resignation of Muhamet Rrumbullak, who resigned on Thursday (September 5).

Bizhga will be the Commander-in-Chief of the State Police and the news was given by the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha, in a meeting with the central and local leaders of the State Police.

But who is Sokol Bizhga?

The Senior Leader has held the position of Deputy Director General of the State Police since December 2022.

Bizhga was born in 1962, in Gjirokastër, and currently lives in Tirana. In 1990, he received the title of "Officer", after completing the High School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During his career, Mr. Bizhga held the following positions:

-From 1990 to 1992, Criminal Police Inspector, at the Vlora Police Station;

-1992-1997 – Head of the Criminal Police, at the Vlora Police Station;

-1997-1999 – Specialist in the Directorate of Criminal Police, in the Ministry of Internal Affairs;

-April-November 1999 – Deputy director at DVP Durrës;

-December 1999-March 2002 – Deputy director at DVP Tirana;

- April 2002-April 2004 – Director of the Criminal Police;

-April 2004-September 2006 – Head of the teaching branch at the Police Academy;

- September 2006-November 2009 – Head of the Serious Crimes Sector, in DVP Berat;

- November 2009-November 2013 – Specialist for serious crimes, in the Directorate of Criminal Police in the Department for the Investigation of Crimes;

- November 2013-September 2013 – deputy director for the Investigation of Crimes, in the State Police;

-September 2013-April 2017 – Director of strategic planning, in the General Directorate of the State Police;

-April 2017-December 2022 – Director of Operational Mobility Forces, in the Department for Public Safety.
