Convict dies near "Mother Teresa" hospital in Tirana

A convict dies at the "Mother Teresa" hospital in Tirana.

As the Hospital reports, Namik Paja was convicted of the criminal offense of "Opposing a Public Order Police Officer".

Today, on December 9, 2024, in the premises of the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center (QSUT), citizen Namik Paja, born on January 5, 1951, resident of Berat, passed away. This citizen was sentenced by court decision to the measure "temporary confinement" for the criminal offense "Opposition of a Public Order Police Officer" (Article 236/2 of the Criminal Code).

Paja suffered from several serious health problems, including:
– Bipolar Disorder Type 1
– Heart Failure and Ischemic Heart Syndrome
– Arterial Hypertension (stage II-III)
– Psychotic Disorders
– Previously diagnosed umbilical hernia.

During his stay in the institution, citizen Paja was admitted three times to the Prison Health Center and was treated with appropriate medication for his health condition.

The incident was immediately reported to the competent authorities, including the Prosecutor's Office, the Albanian Anti-Corruption Commission and the State Police, which are carrying out procedural actions in accordance with the law.

The General Directorate of Prisons offers its condolences to the family for the loss of their loved one.
