An apartment and a garage, about 500 thousand euros of Alda Klos' assets

Around 500 thousand euros of assets belonging to Alda Klosi, former senior official of the Ministry of Finance, who was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for concealing assets on March 19 last year, are confiscated.

The confiscation came after the decision by the Tirana Court, by order of the Prosecutor's Office, and concerns an apartment with a surface area of 85.09 m2 and a garage, which were in the name of her ex-husband, Altin Klosi.

"From property proceeding no. 05, 2022, it resulted that the defendant/subject of the property investigation Alda Klosi, who has been included as a declaration subject in the HIDAKCI since 2016, has not declared to this institution the property that does not justify it with legal sources of income.

From the analysis of the facts and the administered documentation it results that the real estate properties of the apartment and garage type, owned by her and the related person, are assets not justified by legal income. These real estate properties were hidden and were not declared in the ILDKPI declarations by the investigated person Alda Klosi.

Monetary amount 368 thousand new Lekë, 15 thousand and 600 US dollars, 462 thousand and 950 Euros, seized for the account of criminal proceedings no. 9220/2022 and cashed in the account of the Prosecutor's Office on 10.01.2023;
Apartment with usable surface area of 85.09 m2 with property number 6/572+1-35, ZK 8210, Vol. 42, Pg 127 property located in Tirana, owned by citizen AK; and
Garage with a usable area of 14.06 m2, property located in Tirana, owned by citizen AK.
We recall that in December 2022, Alda Klosi reported that the cleaner Rozeta Dobi had robbed her apartment, but did not indicate the full amount of money, but a smaller value and the theft of jewelry. The investigation revealed that 120 thousand euros had been stolen from the cleaner, which Alda Klosi later justified by saying that they belonged to her uncle who lives in America," the Prosecution's announcement states.

In a second search, the police found in the apartment of her cleaner, Rozeta Dobit, a considerable amount believed to be 524,800 euros, 8,500 dollars and 368,000 new lekë as well as gold accessories believed to belong to Klos. Around 500,000 euros were found hidden in the pipes of the extractor fan.

Cleaner Rozeta Dobi and her son insisted in their statements that the money belonged to the former official, who had left it for safekeeping. This amount has convinced the prosecution that it should investigate whether or not former senior official Klosi was laundering money earned through corruption.

The former official was arrested in February 2023, while denying the charges against her. However, Alda Klosi was sentenced by the Tirana Court on March 19 last year to 2 years and 6 months in prison for concealing assets. She benefited from the shortened trial and was ultimately sentenced to 1.8 years in prison. The same sentence was upheld by the Court of Appeal on October 3 last year.
