Prime Minister Edi Rama made a statement on Friday on the eve of the May 14 election campaign: the average salary will reach the limit of 900 euros in two years. Meanwhile, the minimum wage in the country increased from 34,000 thousand to 40,000 allek for 2023.

According to a Scan Intel projection , the average salary of 900 euros, in the conditions of devaluation of the European currency euro, seems to be closer.

The average salary in the state sector at the end of last year was fixed at 74,450 gross lek, or about 695 euros. Meanwhile, during the last 3 weeks, the euro has depreciated on average by 0.43 lek every day.

In order for the gross salary in the state to reach 900 euros, it would be necessary for the euro to rise in the foreign exchange market by around 83 lek.

If the European currency will continue to lose value against the lek at the same rate, on August 24 of this year, the euro would stand at 82.41 lek, which means that the average salary in the country would be 898.6 euros.

While on August 25, it would exceed the promise, being fixed at 903 euros.

This calculation was made on the salary in the state sector of the last quarter of last year, without including the recent increases in the administration.
