The Italian studio Fuksas has been declared the winner in the competition for the new Center of Conventions and Fairs in Tirana. The project to be built on Bulevard e Ri envisages a 12,000 square meter convention center, two towers with 40 and 25 floors each, as well as a commercial space of 23,000 meters.

The construction company is Usluga e Sadri Abazi. The first tower, the one with 40 floors, will have a height of 136 meters and will be a residential object with apartments. The second tower with 25 floors will serve as a hotel.

The competition for the new conference center took place in April this year. 5 studios participated in the competition, but two projects were announced as finalists. That of Fuksas and the Czech studio Chybik+Kristof. A few days ago, Fuksas studio officially announced that its project was announced as the final winner.

Congress Palace

The construction of the new Conference and Fair Center makes the Palace of Congresses redundant. Although this building enjoys the status of a cultural monument, there are rumors that the Palace of Congresses will be demolished to make way for the construction of new towers.  

The Palace of Congresses was built for the organization of Labor Party congresses, but also festivals. The works for its construction started in 1982 and ended four years later in 1986. The best enterprises in the country worked for its construction.
