Ilaria Sula's parents demand justice: The perpetrator should rot in prison

The parents and brother of 22-year-old Albanian woman Ilaria Sula, who was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend, spoke in an interview with Italian media.

Flamur, Gëzime and Leon Sula have requested that the author, Mark Samson, be sentenced to life imprisonment.

" He should rot in prison for life. What he did to her, they don't do to animals. Our daughter was not an object and he threw her away like one. She wasn't a sweater, she wasn't a pair of shoes, she was a human being," said Ilaria's father, after the young man threw Ilaria's lifeless body off a cliff after killing her and putting her in a suitcase.

Flamur Sula, during the interview, said that his daughter was an excellent student and had many dreams and aspirations for the future, but she lost her life in a tragic way. He described Ilaria as a girl who had achieved a lot and who was expecting to receive her diploma in the field of financial statistics this year.

The mother, Gëzimja, said that her daughter had told her that she would come to meet her, but when her brother went to meet her at the train station, she had not come.

"We were waiting for her that weekend. Her brother went to pick her up at the station, the train arrived and left again, and Ilaria wasn't there. We tried to call her, but her phone was off. That's when we realized something had happened," she said.

As for Mark Samson's mother, who confessed to helping her son wipe away blood stains in his room after he killed Ilarian, the latter's parents say she should never have done such a thing. They demand that she be held accountable for helping to cover up the crime.

"How could you do such a thing? She should have called for help, an ambulance, the police. She shouldn't have helped him clean everything up, cover up the crime. She's not a mother," said Flamur Sula.
