After killing the Albanian student, 23-year-old Filipino Mark Antony Samson appeared to want to start a new life, so he continued to date other girls.

One of them confessed to "Rai 3" that Samson sent her messages before and after Ilaria's murder.

The Filipino had told the girl that he wanted to meet new people, as he was going through a difficult period after breaking up with the Albanian student.

"He asked me if I was staying with anyone at home and on March 25 (the day before Ilaria's murder) he was persistently asking to meet me.

 "One evening, he asked to come to my house and bring alcohol. But I refused, saying that my boyfriend was at home, just so he wouldn't come," the young woman said.

On March 27, when everyone was looking for Ilaria, Mark continued to write to the student, while using the victim's phone to send messages to the Albanian's relatives and friends.

Then, the young woman received a message from a friend who told her that Marku was Ilaria Sula's ex-boyfriend. "The first thing that came to mind was: 'This could have happened to me,'" she said, recalling the moment she realized the truth.
