The Kosovo Police have confirmed the closure of six units of the "Postal Savings Bank" of Serbia in the north of the country.

The police announced that they are conducting an operation in six locations in the four northern municipalities, while the deputy director of the Police in the North Mitrovica region, Veton Elshani, said that the action was held under the suspicion that some businesses are conducting illegal activities.

" The Kosovo Police, following reports from financial monitoring institutions, such as the Financial Intelligence Unit and the Central Bank of Kosovo, together with the Tax Administration of Kosovo, based on the authorization of the competent prosecutor, is conducting a police operation in six locations of four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, which are the so-called Treasury of the Postal Savings Bank (Banka Postanske Stedionice) and its five other subsidiaries, which have acted illegally in this area of ​​the Republic of Kosovo" , the Police announcement states.

"The purpose of the police operation is to establish order and legality, where with the authorization of the competent prosecutor, six units of the so-called illegal postal savings bank in the north of the country have been closed," the announcement states.

The Minister of the Interior, Xelal Sveçla, also reacted to the action.

He said that 6 units of the so-called Postal Savings Bank were closed.

" In order to establish legality, after the communication and request of the relevant institutions and the authorization of the prosecutor, the Kosovo Police in cooperation with the Tax Administration of Kosovo, in the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, today carried out the operation of control and closure of 6 units of the so-called Postal Savings Bank (Banka Postanske Stedionica) as an illegal financial institution of Serbia in the Republic of Kosovo", Sveçla wrote.

The Minister of the Interior has emphasized that the rule of law and order, service to all citizens without any distinction will continue to be the goal of the Police to which they have continuously pledged.
