'Refused To Marry Him', Taylor Swift's New Song Apparently Reveals Reasons For Splitting With Joe Alwyn

'Refused To Marry Him', Taylor Swift's New Song Apparently

The Grammy winner apparently shared details about her recent split from British actor Joe Alwyn with her new Midnights single 'You're Losing Me'. The song details the gradual breakdown of a relationship, with the chorus saying, "My heart won't beat for you anymore / Because you're losing me."

She considers ending the romance, asking herself, "Do I throw away everything we've built or do I keep it? Now I'm running down the hall / And I know what everyone says: 'You don't know what you've got until you "you've got it," she sings at one point, later adding: "How long can we be like a sad song/ Until we're too far to come back to life? / I gave you my best, my infinite sensitivity."

Fans also think the lyrics suggest she was rejected for marriage, as Taylor continues: "I'm the best thing at this party / And I wouldn't marry me either / A pathological people pleaser / Who wanted just for you to see."

In April, news broke that Taylor and Joe had split after six years together. Neither has spoken publicly about the split.
