Vucic: Serbia will not recognize Russia's referendums in Ukraine

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has stated firmly that Serbia will not recognize the results of referendums held in four regions of Ukraine partially occupied by Russian forces, despite close ties with Moscow.

" Serbia will not recognize the referendums as it adheres to international law, the United Nations Charter and UN resolutions.

We are defending our territorial integrity and it is in our best interest to protect the territorial integrity of other internationally recognized countries," the Serbian president told reporters, stressing that his country is under pressure due to its stance towards Moscow.

We recall that Belgrade faced criticism from the United States and the European Union after last Friday in New York it signed an agreement with Russia for mutual "consultations" on foreign policy issues.
