US Official: the US Would Stand by Serbia, as Partner and Friend

The United States is strongly committed to the Western Balkans and encouraged by the latest developments of the events between Serbia and Kosovo, Philip Reeker, Acting Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, says on Wednesday at the celebration of Serbia’s Statehood Day in the Congress Library in Washington, organized by Serbia embassy in the US, the Voice of America (VOA) has reported.

Reeker said his country would stand by Serbia as a partner and friend as long as it fulfilled its goals – the membership in the European Union and the reforms.

“The US appreciates its partnership with Serbia, and we share the vision of democratic Serbia with a developed economy, in peace with the neighbors and completely integrated into the EU. The normalization of relations with Kosovo is important for achieving these goals,” Reeker said.
