Israeli attacks in Gaza, Al Jazeera journalist killed

Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have resulted in casualties among Palestinian journalists and civilians. Hossam Shabat, a journalist for Al Jazeera Mubasher, was killed on Monday in northern Gaza when his car was targeted by the Israeli army in Beit Lahiya. Shabat, who had previously been wounded in an Israeli attack, had insisted on continuing to report from Gaza. According to witnesses, he was killed without prior warning.

Also earlier, journalist Mohammad Mansour, who worked for Palestine Today, was killed in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza. This is another loss for the media, as the Government Media Office in Gaza announced that since October 2023, at least 208 journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks. The office strongly condemned the targeting and killing of Palestinian journalists, calling on international journalist organizations to condemn these crimes.

In another incident, an Israeli airstrike hit Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, causing large explosions and a fire that spread throughout the complex. Ambulances rushed to evacuate the injured, with doctors reporting that hundreds of wounded and sick people were inside the hospital when the attack occurred. The incident highlights the tragic consequences of the war in Gaza, affecting both healthcare workers and journalists reporting from the ground.
