Why does Spain not recognize Kosovo? Answers Sanchez from Tirana. Rama opposes

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez was asked why Spain does not recognize Kosovo as an independent state, during the joint conference with his counterpart Edi Rama in Tirana.

He said that Spain thinks that international law has been violated and that Kosovo's declaration of independence was unilateral.

"I think that good friends such as Albania and Spain can have their own disagreements. A unilateral declaration of independence, we think that international law has been violated, therefore we cannot be in favor of this acceptance, we say this with all the respect we have for Albania", said the Spanish Prime Minister.

After this answer, Rama reacted, who told his counterpart that the opposite of what Sanchez stated is the truth. Rama added that it is within the right of his counterpart to draw extreme conclusions. He also congratulated the government of Kosovo, which refrained from attacks and listened to internationals.

"You are entitled to draw extreme conclusions, I tell you that the opposite is true. The exercise of sovereignty over the entire territory of the state of Kosovo, based on the agreement agreed between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels, is not a right, but a duty of the institutions of Kosovo.

I support the government of Kosovo and I support the authorities in Kosovo who demand that the agreement be implemented. I have no qualms about that. I congratulate the Prime Minister of Kosovo for his sense of self-restraint and for listening to the allies who suggested a 30-day postponement, not to change the agreement, but to give him time to clarify and when the agreement comes into force, there will be no problems", replied Rama.
